Isthmian Charity Shield- TODAY

By Ian Townsend

Aveley welcome Concord Rangers for the first trophy of the season- with proceeds to our charity partners, Switch The Play Foundation

This afternoon all roads lead to Parkside, home of Velocity Cup Winners (and, of course, Pitching In Isthmian Premier Play Off Winners) Aveley, for our Isthmian Charity Shield.

Our Charity Shield, rather like the more famous one which usually happens at Wembley, is designed to take place between our Champions and our Cup Winners. Sadly our champions, Bishop's Stortford, are unavailable, so the match will instead by hosted by the Velocity Cup winning Millers, and standing in for their traditional opponents will be Concord Rangers, back in our fold after ten years away in National League South.

Kick off is at 3PM.

Proceeds will go to our new charity partner, Switch the Play Foundation- a charity who work with sports people, helping them 'to plan for and manage a successful transition to life outside of sport. Working with sports organisations and athletes we support, educate and develop sportspeople, during and beyond their sport career.'

You can find out more about their work HERE.
