K's remain at Imperial Fields

Kingstonian confirm continuation of Tooting groundshare

Kingstonian have just confirmed what we all suspected- that they will be remaining at Tooting & Mitcham United's Imperial Fields for the forthcoming campaign.

The K's have just finished their first season sharing with the Terrors, their sixth as wandering nomads since being forced to leave their former Kingsmeadow stadium. During that period that have also shared Fetcham Grove with Leatherhead and King George's Field with Corinthian-Casuals.

The journey from Kingston to Imperial Fields by public transport takes around forty minutes (Mitcham Tramstop, following a train to Wimbledon) and by road the distance is only seven miles, but of course that doesn't take into account the often horrendous traffic!

The club statement explains:

'During last season we had confidential conversations with a number of clubs, both within and in close proximity to the Royal Borough, with a view to us sharing their ground, but unfortunately we were unable to find another club willing or able to accommodate us.

This was due either to the club’s pitch already having sufficient usage from their own teams, or the ground not having the requisite grading to stage our home matches, or an inability to be able to accommodate a groundshare in time for the start of the 2023-24 season.

Consequently we exercised our option at TMUFC for the forthcoming season and remain extremely grateful to them for their willingness to enable us to continue to groundshare there.

Going forward, the club will continue to review the situation during the forthcoming season and will advise when there is further news.'
