Lancing bring in the Pope

A striking coup for Lancing as Whitehawk striker Ben Pope signs on

Lancing last night announced two new arrivals- and although we've already told you about the signing of Bognor defender Danny Howick the other name came as something of a surprise, with Whitehawk striker Ben Pope making the move along the coast road.

Ben has only been with the Hawks since the summer, after moving from Hastings United. He has scored twice, and played nineteen times, but a number of those appearances have come from the bench.

Ben joined Hastings from Lewes back in May 2019, scored twenty two goals in thirty eight matches as they won the Pitching In Isthmian South East title in 2022, and went on to score another twelve in our top flight last season. He had twenty three goals to his name when the 2019-20 season was brought to a halt, and had four more in the very short 20-21 campaign, which finished almost as soon as it started.

Ben started his career at Worthing, went from youth ranks to the first team, and was attracting the attention of professional clubs when serious injury struck. He later played for Burgess Hill Town before signing for the Rooks.
