Lane for the K's

Westfield boss takes over at Kingstonian

Kingstonian have announced the appointment of Westfield boss Simon Lane as their new number one. Simon replaces Spencer Knight, who announced his departure from the club last week after being offered a new job overseas.

Simon has been in charge at Woking Park since the summer of 2020. He was previously manager and Director of Football at Wingate and Finchley, and had previously managed Windsor & Eton, Maltese side Naxxar Lions, Northwood, Egham Town and Hayes & Yeading United.

He is a UEFA A Licenced coach, and has also worked at Maidenhead United as a coach. He picked up our Manager of the Month award as recently as October, and leaves Westfield in ninth place.

Simon has a big job on his hands. The K's face title-contenders Aveley on Saturday, and have recently slipped into the bottom four after winning only one of their last thirteen league matches. In midweek a fairly strong K's side was knocked out of the Surrey Cup, hammered by Combined Counties side Raynes Park Vale.

Writing on social media, he stated:

'Delighted and proud to be given the honour of managing this wonderful club. Will work night and day to provide this unique supporter base with something to cheer over the long term. Up for this huge challenge. Thank you for all the messages already.'
