Lord Richard Rosser R.I.P.

We mourn the passing of our esteemed President

It is with deep regret that we have to record the passing today of our president, Lord Richard Rosser.

Richard was appointed a Vice President in 2008 and attended Board Meetings by invitation; he became President in 2019 following the death of his predecessor, Alan Turvey.

Richard was a true non-league supporter and attended many matches on behalf of the Board as well as assisting the League when he could through his position in the House of Lords.

His enthusiasm for non-league football was well known and his incisive questioning of Clubs and Board Members was well known throughout the League.

Chair Nick Robinson commented:

“We are all very sad today to lose a great ambassador, not just of the Isthmian League but also for football in general. Richard brought many qualities to the Board including, most importantly, his integrity.

I feel that we have lost someone who was respected by all whom he came into contact with and whose wise counsel will be missed by the Board.”

The League send it condolences to his wife, Sheena, and his family.

All Clubs are requested to have their players wear black armbands at matches played between tomorrow and Sunday. A minutes silence or applause must be observed before each match on those days.

Details of the funeral will be provided in due course.
