Maximum Woods!

By Ian Townsend

Six out of six for Northwood, and a win for Uxbridge. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up.

Northwood climbed to second place in the Pitching In isthmian South Central table last night, with an impressive win at much-fancied Bedfont Sports. The side from the end of the runway had won four of the six previous league meetings between the two, but now it’s four from seven, as Woods scored the only goal of the game to take all three points. Technically it was an own goal, but we’re sure they won’t care!

Southall welcomed Uxbridge, hoping to build on their fine win at Merstham- but it was their visitors who triumphed. The hosts certainly noticed that Jack Beadle was about, but they should have paid him closer attention, as he scored after fourteen and forty four minutes to give his side a two goal cushion at the break. Uxbridge were facing ten men by half time, following the dismissal of Anthony O’Connor for the hosts, but the only goal of the second half went to the depleted side, Louis Stead scoring from the spot with thirteen minutes left.

We’ll be covering Uxbridge as they travel to Hassocks in the FA Cup on Saturday- look out for a report here by half past five.
