Daryl McMahon takes over as Hornchurch boss

Hornchurch last night announced that their new manager is former Ebbsfleet United and Dagenham & Redbridge boss Daryl McMahon.

Daryl, who has most recently worked at Leyton Orient as Development and Set Piece Coach, was a fine footballer in his younger days. A. West Ham United youth, he got his first taste of senior football on loan at Torquay United, and then after a short spell at Port Vale he became a mainstay of the Orient midfield during the promotion winning campaign of 2005-06, when the O's finished third in League Two.

He dropped into Non League with Stevenage Borough in 2007, where he was an FA Trophy winner, and after spells at Farnborough and Cambridge United took his first steps into coaching, taking a player/coach position at Boreham Wood. He later turned to playing again, at Eastleigh and Dover Athletic, before becoming the manager of Ebbsfleet United, where he took his side to National League South promotion- they defeated Chelmsford City in the Play Off Final in May 2017.

He later spent a few months in charge of Macclesfield Town but left when the club hit financial difficulties, and was quickly appointed as the new boss of Dagenham and Redbridge, where he remained until February last year, departing after three years in charge.
