Leatherhead launch new 'Mental Health Education Scheme'

Leatherhead have teamed up with Mole Valley District Council and 'Our Mental Health Matters' to launch a new Mental Health Education Scheme, which will be offered free to all comers, the first session at the club scheduled for Wednesday 13th October.

The club explained:

We hope as many people as possible can support the event, which we know will be of benefit to many. Many people face anxiety, stress and worries in day to day life and learning to deal with this is manageable. The scheme also benefits parents of children who may face challenges in the various situations that they may come across in their lives.

As a community club, we hope you or those you believe may benefit, can join us.

Mental Health conditions are brain-based disorders that affect thinking, emotions, and behaviours. Since we all have brains – having some kind of mental health problem during our lives is actually really common. This is why we know there should be no stigma attached to the words ‘Mental Health.’'

The scheme which we hope will become a Mental Health prevention aid, as well as offering education to sufferers and those that often feel close to crisis, will offer attendees the chance to come and learn about a whole number of Mental Health issues that affect so many in our community. The event will cover a wide range of themes and will allow for all different types of learners. Presentations, Q&A, Group Therapies and Audio listening, will all be offered.
