Bowers and Pitsea give a debut to former Southend midfielder Rob Howard

Bowers and Pitsea fans weren't given too much to shout about in defeat against Brightlingsea Regent at the weekend, but they did have their first glimpse at a new midfielder, Rob Howard making his debut after joining on a dual registration deal from National League South side Welling United.

Howard played youth football at Southend United, Arsenal and Colchester United before becoming a Shrimper once more, this time making his way into the first team squad. He then had a series of loan spells, the first of which was with former Isthmian side Harlow Town, and he also spent time at Braintree Town, Dartford, Kings Lynn Town and Farnborough.

He moved on to Welling United last season, and then at the start of this season moved on to spend time with our current champions Bishop's Stortford, now in National League North. He played fourteen times before heading back to Welling.
