Some surprise news from Sheppey United this morning, as the club announce the departure of manager Jack Midson.
In a short statement on social media, they explain:
'After a meeting between the chairman and manager yesterday evening, Sheppey United FC can confirm that Jack Midson has departed the football club.
This was an extremely difficult decision to reach and we would like to place on record our thanks to Jack for all of his efforts over the past 11 months he was in charge of the first team.
Ross Wiles shall take interim charge of the first team whilst the search for a new manager begins.
No further comment will be made today.'
Jack was appointed player-manager in August last year, and steered his charges to within two points of a top five finish. He was previously Player/Assistant Manager at Leatherhead, Concord Rangers and Hemel Hempstead Town, and had a successful playing career with the likes of Oxford United, Southend United, Barnet and AFC Wimbledon.
