Midweek Sports Special

By Ian Townsend

We have two Pitching In Isthmian Premier matches tonight, as Cray Wanderers host Horsham and Kingstonian welcome Lewes

Three of our sides will look to pick up their first points of the campaign this evening, as we focus on the Pitching In Isthmian Premier.

Cray Wanderers had a fine 22-23, but couldn't start 23-24 with victory on Saturday, falling to the only goal of the game at Lewes. They are back at Hayes Lane this evening, another of our fancied sides, Horsham, the visitors. The Hornets also fell to defeat at the weekend, in their case against title favourites Hornchurch, and will want to quickly regain their sting.

The Hornets haven't beaten Wands for rather a long time- indeed, their last victory over tonight's opponents was way back in the mists of history, November 2009. The last time the sides met, in March, they delivered an eight goal thriller, Wanderers triumphing five-three, although they played against ten men for most of the match after Jack Brivio's dismissal.

Kingstonian, still play- lest you forget and head to the wrong ground- at Tooting & Mitcham United's Imperial Fields, fell to a narrow defeat at Billericay Town on Saturday. Their visitors this evening, Lewes, are fresh from that win over Cray and attempting to come to terms with life after JT, golden boot winner Joe Taylor having departed for a club nearer home just before the start of the campaign. The Rooks triumphed in both matches against the K's last season, but Simon Lane's squad looks stronger this season so the home fans won't be short on hope.

Kick off in both matches is at 7.45 PM
