Sammy Moore is an Isthmian once more, taking over at Hythe Town

Hythe Town yesterday announced the appointment of Sammy Moore as their new manager. Sammy takes over from Steve Watt, who departed last week.

Last season saw Sammy move from Potters Bar Town, who at that point were top of Pitching In Isthmian Premier, to Faversham Town, who were bottom of Pitching In Isthmian South East but much nearer his home. He ultimately couldn't keep the Lilywhites up,

Best known in his playing days for his successful period at AFC Wimbledon, Sammy was a youth player at Charlton Athletic and Chelsea before moving to Ipswich Town, where he made his professional debut. He played for Brentford, Stevenage Borough and Dover Athletic before his five years with the Dons, then turned out for Leyton Orient before signing for Leatherhead as Player-Manager.

His success at Fetcham Grove, where he steered them to a famous cup run and missed out on the playoffs on goal difference, saw him snapped up by National League South Concord Rangers. He left Canvey despite steering Rangers to the playoffs, and became manager of Hemel Hempstead Town, leaving at the end of the 2019-20 season. He joined the Scholars at the start of 2022, and left Faversham in January.
