My First XI: Ryan Herrick

By Ian Townsend

Leatherhead fan Ryan brings us his Premier XI, with a bit of a Tanners flavour to it

GK-Amadou Tangara-Solid between the sticks for Bognor and has consistently performed for them week in week out.

Defence

Will Salmon (Lewes)-Will definitely goes under the radar in terms of his ability. Whether it’s in a back three or a back four he will stand out and has only got better since joining Lewes.

Cameron Black (Leatherhead)-Incredible defender. Even when we were at the bottom he’s been playing consistently well, and I feel if we weren’t so low down in the league he’d be getting shouts for best defender in the league!

Tyrese Owen (Haringey Borough)-Absolute man mountain. Not sure of what his height is but looked like a giant when we played Haringey away. Upon looking more into him I have read that Bolton Wanderers and Derby are interested him and it’s clear to see why.

Crossley Lema (Margate)-A very ex/current Leatherhead defence except Tyrese but if there’s anything that Leatherhead should be given credit for is the amount of quality defenders that we have had over the years. Crossley came on loan from Sutton as a young player a few years ago to us. He signed a permanent deal and to watch him progress into a combative, fast and solid defender is great to see. He’s primarily a full back who is also capable of playing Center half showing his versatility.

Midfield

Ben Greenhalgh (Margate)-Have watched him a few times and he’s absolutely bossed the midfield. The stats don’t lie and he’s guaranteed to get you goals and assists.

Archie Burnett (Leatherhead, on loan from Bromley). Quality midfielder for us on loan from Bromley and joined during the transition period between managers. Joined during a difficult time where it would have been very easy to say to Bromley that he’d prefer to stay with them, but he stayed and persisted and put in quality performances week in week out. A great ball carrier who is able to progress play up the field. He’s been dubbed the ‘Leatherhead Iniesta’ by myself but not sure if the nicknames caught on yet. Perhaps he’ll have to stay next season for the name to stick!

Aaron Lamont- (Leatherhead/Kingstonian)-Joined us from Kingstonian to the surprise of many Leatherhead fans. Some may have questioned why he took the drop but the passion and commitment he has given to the club has been second to none. The kind of midfielder to go in for a 50/50 and the spray a beautiful cross play switch showing he’s equally confident on both sides of the game.

Forwards

Frankie Merrifield (Bishop's Stortford)-A forward who myself and my brother have particularly enjoyed following. Has played well in a Bishops Stortford side who had been pushing for promotion.

Muhamadu Faal (Enfield Town)-Goal, goals, goals and more goals. Not much more to say really.

Ollie Pearce (Worthing)-Goals,goals and even more goals than Faal! Which is not something many have achieved. Will be keen to see is Pearce can keep up his goal scoring records in the National League South.
