Pitching In Isthmian Supporters predictions 23-24: Uxbridge

By Ian Townsend

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. We’re off to the South Central, and Uxbridge, in the company of Sergio Navarro

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Beating Dover Athletic on penalties in the FA Trophy 4-2. Jordan Ireland scored to level the game at 1-1 and we went on to win. They were a National League side so we were considered underdogs.

2. And what was the worst moment?

The worst moment of last season was the final day home game, after an already turbulent season performance wise, we got thrashed by already relegated Tooting & Mitcham United. It was a horrendous game to watch.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Our collective player of the season was voted as Alan Hedley. He is a fan favourite, as are many others in the squad, but he was last seasons stand out because he never delivered a bad performance and glued the midfield together.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2023-24 campaign?

I believe for the upcoming season Kensley Maloney will make an impact- due to his quick turn of pace and his technical ability
.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Our preseason display so far has been nothing short of exceptional- keeping two clean sheets alongside comfortable wins as well as a 4-1 win against step 3 side Hanwell Town. However I believe unfortunately we will not keep this consistency throughout next season, and will therefore finish near the bottom end of the table.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I don’t have one particular favourite that I’m looking forward to. I enjoy every game- each one is different, with a whole host of different emotions.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

My favourite ground last season was Merstham

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

I traveled to every away game last season aside from Guernsey, and there was such a range of options that it’s difficult to pick one.

9. Choose your top five:

Chertsey Town, Ashford Town, Binfield, Chipstead, Hanworth Villa
