Pitching In Isthmian Supporters predictions 23-24: Brentwood Town

By Ian Townsend

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. We’re off to the North Division, and Brentwood Town, in the company of Bradley Barnes

Pitching In Isthmian Supporters predictions 23-24: Brentwood Town

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Stowmarket Town, Away. Over the last few seasons Brentwood Town have built a good relationship with Stowmarket Town following on from our play-off semi final game in the 2021/22 season. They went above and beyond last season by ensuring that there was an outdoor bar for our fixture. Of course, this was much to the delight of the travelling fans (circa 30+).

2. And what was the worst moment?

Ironically our pre-season campaign was one to forget, resulting in one win. This theme unfortunately followed us into the league season. Unfortunately, when issues were addressed it was slightly too late to make the play-off picture.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Andy Freeman (Mr Reliable). Andy's can-do attitude speaks volumes on and off the pitch which has subsequently resulted in him becoming a fan favourite.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2023-24 campaign?

Harrison Chatting. Harrison has recently moved to Brentwood Town after making forty four AFC Sudbury appearances last season where he weighed in with five goals. As a result he picked up his second Play Off victory medal in a row. We hope with Harrison's vast knowledge and experience at this level that he can help get Brentwood Town over the line.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Better than last years - can't be hard, can it? No, in all seriousness the play-offs would be a reasonable goal. We're fully aware that teams around us are improving and no game as this level is going to be easy.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Like most Brentwood Town fans, we love a good old away trip. Familiar grounds such as Bury Town, Stowmarket Town and Witham Town are always enjoyable days out. However, new grounds such as Ipswich Wanderers and Enfield are equally exciting.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

What better way to start the campaign than a trip to Bury Town. A club with fantastic facilities, great Chairman and a ground which is in close proximity to The Nutshell (a great tiny Victorian Pub).

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

Hullbridge Sports FC. Although, no longer in our league they welcomed us with open arms which may've ended up with some free burgers and chillies. Tastes better when it's free, right? Class act, true non-league style - clubs helping one and other one.

9. Choose your top five:

Lowestoft Town, Heybridge Swifts, Brentwood Town, Enfield, Felixstowe & Walton United
