Pitching In Isthmian Supporters predictions 23-24: Folkestone Invicta

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. We’re heading to Folkestone Invicta, with Rob Thompson

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Without doubt winning away against Dulwich Hamlet in the FA Cup. We very nearly made the 1st round proper but lost away to Merthyr Town.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Probably the start we made against Merthyr. We were unlucky in the end but they started very fast and caught us cold.

The home league match against Kingstonian was also a low point of the season. It was a huge result for them in staying in the Isthmian Prem but a blow for us.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Nathan Green was immense for us last season. Voted MOTM in pretty much every home game we played. He has since departed to Hornchurch, fantastic player.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2023-24 campaign?

We have some very good players and have acquired a few more in the summer. Ade Cole in midfield looks very lively and will give us lots of energy and quality.

Andre Coker has looked a bag of tricks in pre season. Really looking forward to watching him.

We've got a few to be honest.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

We have to aim for the playoffs and we are capable of getting there. Just need a bit of luck with injuries and make Cheriton Road a fortress.

The standard has got a lot better lots of competition in this league.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Lewes away is always a good day out and nice ground, we have some good battles with them. Hastings also is a proper non league ground and good trip.

Margate is a local derby and always promises to be good match.

We've got plenty to look forward to.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Chatham, another Kent derby and cracking ground and bar.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

The burgers at Hornchurch are something else. You won't forget having one.

9. Choose your top five:

Hornchurch will surely be champions this season. Then Dulwich, Hastings, Billericay and hopefully Invicta. You can't write off anyone.

Predicted tables will be released on Friday!.
