Reid departs the Moatsiders

Merstham boss Tony Reid leaves the club

Merstham have announced a parting of the ways with manager Tony Reid, who only took over the hot seat at Moatside in May.

In an announcement this morning, the club explained:

'Unfortunately, the start of the current campaign has fallen short of the expectations of the club and its supporters. Despite the hard work and dedication of Tony and his coaching staff, that has not brought about results on the pitch.'

Merstham are without a win since August 5th- victory over Raynes Park Vale in the FA Cup. They’ve lost six of their seven subsequent matches in all competitions, and were hit for six by South Park Reigate in the Velocity Cup in midweek.

Tony's most recent Pitching In Isthmian roles prior to his arrival at Merstham were in charge of Corinthian-Casuals and East Grinstead Town, but he will perhaps be far more familiar to Isthmian watchers from his role at Westfield, where he steered the Woking Park side to a promotion and a play off place. He was previously a manager at Eastbourne Town and Walton & Hersham, and was also at Farnham Town.

Prior to his managerial career he was a striker, playing for Casuals and for the likes of Carshalton Athletic, Egham Town, Tooting & Mitcham United, Leatherhead, Lewes, Sittingbourne, Bromley, Hampton, Croydon Athletic and Kingstonian.
