Richard Georgiou steps down as New Salamis boss

By Ian Townsend

All change for the North Londoners

New Salamis boss Richard Georgiou has seen his club deliver unprecedented success in his fifteen years at the club, but has decided that it is time to move on.

In a short statement on social media, he explained:

'Difficult decision for me but believe it’s the right time to step down as manager. Been at the club for over 15 years as a player and manager. Got memories that will last a lifetime. Amazing club and il always be a red. Time to relax and wait for the next challenge.'

Richard took over at the helm in September 2021 and steered his side to Spartan South Midlands Premier promotion at the first attempt. Last season, their first ever at Step Four, Salamis arrived as an unknown quantity- but they didn't stay unknown for very long! A ninth place finish was an amazing achievement, and victories over promotion-chasing Lowestoft Town, Stowmarket Town and Felixstowe and Walton United were perhaps the highlights.

It is only seven years since the club was winning the FA Sunday Cup, with Richard a big part of that success- and he has been a big part of every moment of their success since.
