Scholars frustrated after bright start

By Peter Butcher

POTTERS BAR doubled their lead in Ryman North tonight (Wednesday) but were left frustrated after taking only a single point from a 1-1 draw at Ilford.

Cole Penny gave the Scholars the lead in the ninth minute and they must have expected to build on that start.

But they were without James Gershfield for much of the game after their in-form marksman fell foul of a traffic jam on the North Circular Road. He came on as a substitute in the second half but failed to extend his run, having scored in his side’s first six league games.

So Scholars were unable to increase their advantage, Ilford came more and more into the game and it was no great surprise when Guy Bonwick levelled the scores with eight minutes left.

Where next?

Erhun's double sinks leaders RYMAN South leaders Folkestone travelled to Dulwich, where they were beaten in last season’s play-off semi-final, yesterday (Saturday) and the outcome was the same.
Tuesday's league and FA Trophy action HARLOW had to wait just two weeks for the chance to avenge a 4-0 home defeat by Brentwood in an FA Trophy replay. But the repeat fixture in Ryman North did not quite go according to plan for the Hawks: this time they lost 5-0!
