When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?
The image of Sam Johnson was taken at Crown Meadow home of Lowestoft Town FC against Wroxham FC 14th February 2023 where the game ended as a 2-2 draw.
Why is it important to you?
This image is important to me because my husband had paid for me to be Man Of The Match sponsor as a Valentine's day present. I had already chosen Sam as my MOTM before he scored Lowestoft's second goal putting them in the lead. As the match continued, the sea mist continued to roll in. By the end of the match you couldn't see the goal at the far end of the field. We only realised that Wroxham had equalised when we heard the cheers from afar. The sea mist also gives the photograph an atmospheric feel.
Where can we find the rest of your work?
You can find the rest of my work on the Lowestoft Town FC website.
How and why did you begin taking photographs at football matches?
I began photographing football matches when a vacancy became available at the club 8 years ago. I was asked to take on the role by the Lowestoft Town Chairman Gary Keyzor who had seen some of my nature photography on Facebook. I initially turned it down as I had no experience of sports photography but he eventually talked me round and the rest is history.
What are your hopes for the forthcoming season?
My hopes for the next season is to again be at the top end of the table pushing for promotion and to hopefully keep the majority of our players.
