Potters Bar Town have announced that boss Sammy Moore- and Assistant Darren Beale - have signed contracts to remain with the club until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Sammy joined the club at the end of January, and has transformed their campaign since his arrival. Victories over Kingstonian and Margate- twice each- as well as wins over Haringey Borough, Carshalton Athletic and Brightlingsea Regent have lifted the Scholars out of trouble into a rather respectable twelfth place, and supporters will be confident that they can challenge even higher up the table next season.
Best known in his playing days for his successful period at AFC Wimbledon, Sammy was a youth player at Charlton Athletic and Chelsea before moving to Ipswich Town, where he made his professional debut. He played for Brentford, Stevenage Borough and Dover Athletic before his five years with the Dons, then turned out for Leyton Orient before signing for Leatherhead as Player-Manager.
His success at Fetcham Grove, where he steered them to a famous cup run and missed out on the playoffs on goal difference, saw him snapped up by National League South Concord Rangers. He left Canvey despite steering Rangers to the playoffs, and became manager of Hemel Hempstead Town, leaving at the end of the 2019-20 season.
