Signing the Blues

Wingate and Finchley announce Ben Ward-Cochrane, Ruben Carvalho, Anointed Chukwu, Fahad Nazor, Rhamar Garrett-Douglas and Bobby Webb

It was a busy weekend for Wingate and Finchley, with half a dozen new signings announced.

Ben Ward-Cochrane, a forward, played for Walthamstow and Kingstonian last season, but was previously with Potters Bar Town- indeed he scored ten Scholars goals in eighteen matches during the 21-22 season, after joining the club during what turned out to be the closing stages of the 2019-20 campaign. He was previously with Hertford Town and Enfield Town.

Midfielder/winger Ruben Carvalho was once an Under 18 with the Blues, but then also spent time with Potters Bar Town, and has also played for Basildon United, East Thurrock United, Bowers & Pitsea, Staines Town, Enfield Borough, and- last season- Kings Langley, Corinthian-Casuals and Biggleswade Town.

Anointed Chukwu a forward, has had two spells with Grays Athletic- scoring eleven goals in twenty appearances during the first part of last season before moving on to Harrow Borough.

He played for Crystal Palace Under 16's and was scouted by several Premier Division clubs, having a trial at Southampton, before moving to Salford City. He had a loan spell with Widnes during the 2019-20 season which saw him score seven goals in fifteen Pitching In Northern League North West appearances, and also got three in seven on loan to Ramsbottom United in the same division. He then spent time with East Thurrock United, and has also played for Cheshunt.

Fahad Nazor, a defender, has spent time with East Thurrock United, Witham Town, Brightlingsea Regent, Walthamstow and Waltham Forest.

Rhamar Garrett-Douglas, another defender, was with Sutton Common Rovers last season, playing twenty four times. He ended the previous season with Kempston Rovers in the Pitching In Southern League, and also turned out for Royston Town during 21-22, after starting the campaign with our very own Hullbridge Sports.

Rhamar first arrived at Sports in February 2020 on loan from Barnet. On that occasion he managed only three matches before the pandemic hit.

Rhamar was a regular for the Barnet Under 18's side, and came through the club's scholarship programme. He was previously with Bishop's Stortford. During the 2019-20 campaign he was a big success at Maldon & Tiptree, making eight appearances without once finding himself on the losing side.

Bobby Webb makes the step up to our level after playing for London Colney. Bobby also plays in defence.
