Southall deepen the Tangerines anxiety

Southall last night gave hope to Sutton Common Rovers, Bedfont Sports and Merstham, as they picked up three points against Ashford Town and extended the Tangerines winless run to ten matches, including eight defeats.

The latest reverse for Town sees them sit one place and one point outside the relegation spots, with Rovers a point behind, Sports and the Moatsiders a point further back. Ashford still have a game in hand over the three clubs pursuing them, and have to play already relegated Tooting & Mitcham United and Rovers amongst their three remaining matches, as well as mid table Thatcham Town, so their fate is in their own hands- but they need to find some form, and quickly. It took them only three minutes to fall behind against their tenants last night, Anthony O’Connor opening the scoring- and three minutes after beginning the second half O’Connor did it again, making it two-nil and securing victory for the All, who climb to tenth.

Of the chasing pack, Rovers head to Westfield on Saturday before hosting the Tangerines on the last day of the season; whilst Sports have a difficult match at promotion-chasing Hanworth Villa tomorrow before hosting Guernsey, the Green Lions in good form but now safe. Merstham travel to Chertsey Town before hosting Westfield on 22nd April.
