Three in at Hullbridge

Hullbridge Sports yesterday announced three signings as they prepare for the new season.

First up was Nathan Scarborough, the striker returning to the club after a season away with Saffron Waldon Town- although he did get to make three North Division appearances before he left in September 2019. Nathan was the top scorer in Sports' 2018-19 Essex Senior League promotion season, but according to the Saffron Walden website made only seven appearances last season, which we don't think can be correct!

Speaking about his return, the hitman said:

"I'm excited to be part of Hullbridge FC once again. Lots of things have changed within the club since I left, and now I can't wait to get out there with the team. I'm buzzing for the season to start and to get back training with the lads, but most of all playing in front of the fans again."

Next to sign up was club captain Andre Gumbs, who made seventeen appearances last season and was also a part of that promotion-winning squad. He explained, "I am pleased to have re-signed for the upcoming season. The club are forward-thinking and ambitious and I'm really excited to be a part of this project."

Finally, the third signing was Emmanuel Okunja. Midfielder Emmanuel made twenty six appearances last season, nearly all of them whilst clad in the number eight shirt. He previously played for Westfield and for Peacehaven & Telscombe, and is another veteran of that Essex Senior title win. He stated:

"I am really excited for the upcoming season- a lot has happened since we last kicked a ball. The club has massive ambitions going forward and I'm delighted to be able to sign for another season and help them push on in their journey."
