Supporter of the Season Awards- nominations still open

By Ian Townsend

This season we've opened the nomination process to both clubs and supporters. Get your entries in now!

Given we don't have any actual football at present we thought we'd remind you of our Supporter of the Season Awards, as it would be nice to think about something positive and you might have a little extra time on your hands!

In the past all nominations for our shortlist have come directly from our clubs, and whilst that’s been successful we’d like to have a broader field this time around, to enable us to truly celebrate the people who demonstrate outstanding commitment to their clubs. So we’ve opened up the nomination process not only to the clubs but to their supporters. We’d like you to get in touch and tell us about a special supporter at your club. Let us know all about their dedication to the cause, the efforts they go to in all weathers to support their team, the difference they make home and away, and what they mean to the other supporters who share a terrace with them.

We opened the nominations on Christmas Day, and so far we’ve had entries from Folkestone Invicta, Haringey Borough, Cheshunt, Lewes, Histon, Hornchurch, Northwood and Hertford Town. If your club isn’t on that list, and you’ve someone special you’d like to nominate, then let’s hear all about them! Your nominations will be passed to the board, and they will sit down and make a decision on the winner before the end of the season- and the award will be presented at the Annual General Meeting in June.

So get voting! We’ll be delighted to see a new name on the supporter roll of honour, alongside the likes of James Beardwell of Witham Town, Ken Dixon of Herne Bay and John Buck of Burgess Hill Town (pictured above, left, receiving his award from our Chairman Nick Robinson- image courtesy of Chris Neal). Entries should be emailed to townsendaround@gmail.com

We need to know:

1. Who you'd like to nominate
2. Which club they represent:
3. The reasons for your nomination- the more detail the better!

So don't delay, get in touch- and remember, we need detail if you want your entry to stand a good chance of winning! Nominations close at the end of March.
