Staines Town yesterday announced that manager Mick Woodham had left the club. In a statement posted on their website, they explained:
'It is with much regret that Staines Town FC announce the departure of Manager Mick Woodham this morning. Mick was appointed in the spring, and has secured victories in six of his eighteen matches in charge, but, crucially, League form has fallen short of expectations and we are currently at the foot of the table (barring inactive clubs). Following defeat at Westfield yesterday, Mick tendered his resignation this morning (3 October 2021). Although the Club was disinclined to accept it, Mick felt that he had pushed the squad as far as he could, and in the circumstances felt it best to pass the job onto someone else.
Staines Town FC extends its thanks to Mick who has conducted himself with utmost professionalism during this difficult period, and we wish him well with his future endeavours in football.'
Mick was unveiled as the new Swans boss at the end of April, replacing Paul Barnes, who had left the club in January (of course, the season had ended by that point due to the pandemic). Barnes had only been in post for little over ten months, and he replaced Martin Kuhl, who was in post for only three months. Prior to that Mahrez Bettache had been in temporary charge for two months following the departure of Anthony Gale.
