Ten man Hastings deliver late victory- whilst ten man Rocks take a point at K’s

By Ian Townsend

Wednesday night saw not one single home win, as Grays Athletic, Ashford United and Bedfont Sports joined Hastings in victory. It’s our round up of Wednesday night’s action.

It’s two consecutive one-nil wins for Hastings United, who moved up to eighth place in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier at Cray Wanderers. Ben Pope was the match winner in a game which saw the visitors pick up six yellow cards and eventually a red, Lloyd Dawes coming on as a substitute and departing involuntarily within four minutes. Pope’s goal came fifteen minutes from time.

Kingstonian welcomed Bognor Regis Town and came from behind to lead two-one, only to concede an equaliser to the ten men Rocks. It was our featured match, and you can read all about it here.

The Pitching In Isthmian North delivered a five goal thriller on White Hart Lane- and all the goals came in the first half. Grays Athletic went two goals up at New Salamis, Anointed Chukwu and Josh Osude on eight and thirty one minutes, but then conceded an own goal. Sam Bantick restored their two goal cushion a minute before the break, but there was still time for Derek Asamoah to pull it back to two-three before the half time whistle went. The next forty five minutes saw no further goals, and Athletic are up to sixth, level on points with their eighth place hosts.

In Pitching In Isthmian South Central, Bedfont Sports picked up their first win of the campaign, and they did it in some style, defeating Sutton Common Rovers three-nil at Whyteleafe. Michael Goddard opened the scoring ten minutes before the break, and after it two goal Sam Evans finished the job, a result which sees Sports up to fourteenth.

Ashford United travelled to Corinthian in Pitching In Isthmian South East and made sure that not a single home club picked up a victory this evening by hammering their hosts four-nil. Josh Wisson opened the scoring on twenty minutes, George Nikaj scored his third in four matches to make it two-nil, and the returning Gary Lockyer got the last two on his latest Nuts and Bolts debut. The result sends United up to fourth.
