Three more managerial changes: Number Two, East Thurrock United

Rocks boss Martin departs- our second departure of the weekend

Yesterday East Thurrock United announced that manager Paul Martin had decided to leave the club.

Paul took over in April 2020, replacing John Coventry.

Martin is a legend in Essex football circles, and indeed across the Isthmian League. He had fifteen years at the Romford helm, delivering North Division survival for year after year- as well as an Essex Senior League title in 2009- despite the club having no ground and very little in the way of resource. His time at the Rocks comes to an end after they experienced their seventh successive defeat.

Club Chairman Steve Martin made the following statement:

"The club and I personally would like to the Paul, Mark, John & Danny for all their hard work and effort they have put in since taking over and wish them all the best for the future.

The club now needs to look forward and appoint a new management team in the near future.

We would also like to thank the supporters for their continued support and sincerely hope that it continues."

The club are inviting applications, which can be made by emailing the club here and sending in a CV. Applications close on Thursday.

Former Grays Athletic boss Jim Cooper has agreed to step in as an interim manager, but has made it clear this is a very short term arrangement!
