Three striking new K's

By Ian Townsend

Andy Somo, Eddie D'Sane and Chike Kandi sign on at Kingstonian

Kingstonian had three new attacking names in their squad as they fell narrowly at Billericay Town on Saturday.

Striker Andy Somo spent last season terrorising Pitching In Isthmian South Central defences, but stepped up a level after swapping Chipstead for newly promoted Whitehawk in the summer- although difficulties with travel meant that he didn't play a competitive match for the Hawks.

Andy managed seventeen goals for the Chips last season, including four in one match against Hanworth Villa. That followed nineteen goals in thirty five appearances during the 21-22 campaign.

Prior to his time with the Chips, Andy spent the two pandemic-hit seasons playing for Croydon in the SCEFL. He was also rather prolific for the Trams.

At the end of last season he was chosen by South Central managers for a place in our official Team of the Season. He will undoubtedly hope to repeat that feat in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier.

Another striker, Eddie D'Sane, played for both Horsham and Margate last season.

Eddie joined the Hornets since September 2021, and was a big part of their success during 21-22, scoring thirteen times in his thirty eight appearances. He made eleven appearances for Margate last season, and another twenty for the Hornets, with two goals.

He was previously with Leatherhead, Kingstonian, Maldon & Tiptree, Whyteleafe and Chipstead.

A youth player at Crystal Palace and Preston North End, Eddie also spent time at Fleetwood Town before heading to Ireland, where he played for Finn Harps.

Finally, Chike Kandi returns to the club, after ending last season there on a dual registration deal from Farnborough. Chike played Academy football with Birmingham City, Chelsea, Werst Bromwich Albion and Brighton & Hove Albion before first coming to our attention during a loan move to Bognor Regis Town. Woking, Leatherhead, Dagenham & Redbridge and Aldershot Town followed, before he spent the 21-22 season with Dulwich Hamlet and started last season with Dover Athletic. He played three times for the K's last season.
