Thursday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League Premier Division

Third-placed Margate and second-placed Hendon played out a stunning 4-4 draw in the Ryman League's Premier Division on Thursday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The point leaves the Greens four points behind leaders Maidstone United with a game in hand.

The game at Hartsdown Park in front of a crowd of 779 didn't disappoint, with the home side coming from behind three times to lead 4-3, only to concede a late equaliser.

Hendon took the lead after just five minutes when Sam Murphy curled home a free-kick before Ryan Moss hit back for Margate in the 18th minute. The Greens were ahead again after 33 minutes, courtesy of another set piece, Elliott Braithwaite nodding home.

Margate levelled things up again four minutes into the second half when Ryan James scored his first for the club from close range but then gifted Hendon the lead on the hour-mark with an own goal from Charlie Wassmer.

Ryan James went on to pull his side level for a third time on 71 minutes before Moss grabbed the lead for Margate on 82 minutes.

But the topsy-turvy game still wasn't over with Hendon equalising three minutes later when substitute Andre Da Costa took advantage from a quick free-kick to side-foot home from the edge of the box.
