Trawler Boys have a five point lead once more, Bury win again, and Grays hit four

Lowestoft Town increase their comfort at the top, Bury Town close in on the play off places, whilst Athletic are impressive on the road

Lowestoft Town got back to winning ways- and re-established a five point lead at the top of the Pitching In Isthmian North table- with a comfortable win over Witham Town at the seaside last night.

The Trawler Boys were ahead as early as the seventh minute, Jake Reed taking his tally for the season to an impressive twenty five goals. Nine minutes before half time they added a second, Charlie Norman making it two-nil, and with twenty four minutes left the match was as good as over, Josh Hazell adding the third. The visitors did get a consolation, Josh Osude with his sixth in six, but that was that. Witham are fourteenth.

Bury Town have been in superb form, and they made it nine matches without defeat- seven wins- with a two-nil victory over Redbridge, a result which takes them to within three points of the top five. They didn’t have it all their own way against the Motormen at Ram Meadow, Ollie Canfer’s twenty third minute opener not added to until five minutes into added time- but adding to it is what they did, Cemal Ramadan scoring his seventeenth of the season, this one from the spot. Jack Chawner picked up a late red card for the visitors.

Grays Athletic ended a four match losing run in style at Ipswich Wanderers. Athletic opened the scoring on twenty three minutes, Billy Crook with the goal, and it was two-nil by the break, Codey Cosgrave with the second. A red card for the hosts Matt Paine on sixty seven minutes made their task even more difficult, and it got more difficult still when Charlie Stimson made it three with sixteen minutes left. Five minutes from time Cosgrave got another to make it four-nil, and a late, late goal from Rashid Salau for the hosts was no more than a consolation. Athletic are now ten points above the drop zone, and only two points behind their hosts.
