Two for Regent

James Blanchfield and Kai Fletcher are new at Brightlingsea Regent

Supporters of Brightlingsea regent may not have had a game to watch on Saturday, but they could content themselves with the knowledge that their club had added two new faces to the squad.

James Blanchfield comes in on loan from Billericay Town, where he has made fourteen appearances this season.

The midfielder signed for the Blues in the summer, taking a step down from National League South side Chelmsford City. He played youth football for Arsenal before making a move to Ipswich Town, where he played at Under 18 and Under 21 level. A loan at Aldershot Town followed, before a permanent move to Dagenham & Redbridge. Concord Rangers followed, and he was a big part of the side which reached the Final of the pandemic hit FA Trophy in 2021, starting in that narrow Wembley defeat against Harrogate Town. He moved toChelmsford early last year.

Forward Kai Fletcher moves up from Brantham Athletic, where he has had a rather prolific period, scoring sixteen goals in twelve matches. Kai played Under 18 and reserve football for Leiston before graduating to the first team squad, and he also spent some time at Needham Market. Last season he spent some time at Gorleston, making eleven appearances, and this season has turned out for Ipswich Wanderers, playing thirteen times and scoring twice before heading to Brantham and finding his shooting boots.
