Two join the Bees

Basildon bring in a keeper and a defender

Basildon United last night announced two additions as they prepare for today's FA Cup match with Stansted.

First up was Brendan Ocran. Brendan ended last season at Braintree Town, after earlier playing half a dozen times in the Isthmian Premier for Merstham. The midfielder- although we've also seen him described as a defender and a forward so perhaps Basildon have got three players for the price of one- was a youth player with Colchester United, and has also played for Cockfosters, Billericay Town, Kings Langley, Needham Market, Northwood and Welwyn Garden City.

Next was a dual-registration signing, as goalkeeper James Bransgrove came in from Dunmow Town. James ended last season with Bowers and Pitsea.

He started life as an Abbott, with Waltham Abbey, from where he was spotted by Brentford and taken to Griffin Park. He then moved on to Colchester United, and as well as being part of their first team squad had loans at Maldon & Tiptree, Bishop's Stortford and Wealdstone.

He was Coggeshall Town's keeper as they won promotion to the Isthmian League, and made twenty appearances in the North Division during the first half of 2018-19, before moving on to Walthamstow.
