Uhlsport Golden Gloves Awards- January 2024

By Ian Townsend

Here are the winners of latest Golden Gloves Awards- sponsored by the some of the best goalkeeping equipment in the world, provided by uhlsport

Remember, these awards are given on the basis of league matches only- and clubs must have played at least three of those to qualify! Here are our first winners of 2024- a little later than usual due to some technical difficulties.

Premier Division

If ever an award would confirm the resurgence of one of our bottom four, it would be this one- so we’re heading to the Island of Canvey and honouring Concord Rangers. The Beachboys played five times in January, lost only once, conceded only three goals and delivered two clean sheets, which certainly doesn’t look like relegation form. Many congrats to their increasingly mean defence, particularly keeper Mason Terry.

North Division

Continuing with the theme we’ve already begun, we’re off to the seaside again, as our Pitching In Isthmian North award is taking a trip to Great Yarmouth, home of Gorleston. The Greens delivered an unbeaten January, defeated the leaders away from home, and kept two clean sheets- those coming in victories over Redbridge and Enfield. A very well done to their fabulous back four, and particularly to the chap that stands behind it, keeper Jake Jessup.

A fine pair of gloves courtesy of Uhlsport will be heading your way shortly, Jake.

South Central Division

January saw Pitching In Isthmian South Central leaders Chertsey Town take on Hartley Wintney, Raynes Park Vale, Uxbridge, Ashford Town and Leatherhead, win every time, and score seventeen goals- which is why we’re already heading there to deliver the Manager of the Month Award- but wait, we’re not done! The Curfews also had the best defence of January, none of their opponents scoring more than one, and one of them, Uxbridge, not managing to score whilst conceding six!

Many congrats to the Curfews fine defence, and particularly to the man who marshals it, keeper Nicholas Jupp, who will have some fabulous gloves heading his way shortly.

South East Division

January saw Cray Valley PM play seven times, and deliver an unbeaten month which brought wins over Sevenoaks Town, Sheppey United, Lancing, Chichester City and Ashford United, and delivered us a real title race. Those seven matches saw a total of three goals conceded, and four superb clean sheets -only Horndean, Sheppey and Lancing managed a goal, and each of them got only one! Max Ovenden has been the last line of the Millers defence, and he’s done a rather fine job.

Many congrats to Max, and to all who stand in front of him.

Thanks to uhlsport for sponsoring our Golden Gloves awards.
