Uxbridge fail to slay another giant

But Thatcham record a vital away win

Pitching In Isthmian South Central Uxbridge had already slain two giants to reach the Third Round of the FA Trophy, the last one of those a particularly impressive win over National League South side Dover Athletic.

Last night, however, they faced an even bigger challenge, as they travelled to face National League side Dagenham & Redbridge- and this time it proved to be a step too far. The Daggers, in fine form of late, were three goals up by the break, added an unfortunate own goal to make it four shortly after the restart, and although Dan Williams did get one back for the visitors there was still time for the hosts to add a fifth.

Commiserations to the travelling Red Army- but your side has left you with some fine memories this season, and will be hoping to make more when they return to league action.

Talking of league action, we had a vital match at the wrong end of the table as Tooting & Mitcham United welcomed Thatcham Town. The third bottom Terrors were desperate for a win against a side two points and one place ahead of them, but they fell behind on fourteen minutes, Cameron Rohaet-Brown with the opener. Just before the break the same player made it two-nil from the spot, only for Edd Mbango to immediately reply- but that was as good as it got for the hosts. The Kingfishers have lost only one of their last five, whilst the Terrors have only six points- and one win- from the last thirty available, and find themselves five points from safety, albeit with with games in hand over the two sides directly above them.

Image comes from a familiar faces around our grounds, Paul Donegan- who seems to be trying to visit all of them this season!
