Vale, Town and Tanners maintain their perfect records

By Ian Townsend

Hartley Wintney hit five, Ascot and Marlow get four, and we’ve also got wins for Southall and Uxbridge on our South Central Saturday

Hanworth Villa played host to Raynes Park Vale. After a goalless first half Vale quickly took control, Jermaine Green opening the scoring on fifty one minutes and Jordan Gallagher making it two only six minutes later, and when Gallagher added a third eighteen minutes from time that appeared to be that. Villa saw Luca Cardines get a late consolation, but that wasn’t enough to stop Vale hitting the summit.

Thatcham Town welcomed Ashford Town. Both sides had fine starts to the season, the Kingfishers defeating Marlow and the Tangerines hitting six against Binfield, but the Kingfishers went ahead on the half hour through Christian Johnson, and the same player made it two just over half an hour later. That was that, the Kingfishers second.

South Park Reigate and Leatherhead met for the third time in a week. The first meeting ended all square before the Tanners squeezed through in a midweek replay, and Leatherhead continued in the same manner, penalty specialist Gus Sow making it one-nil seven minutes before half time, Fabio Saraiva adding a second before the half time Haribo. Other chewy sweets are available.

The Sparks got themselves back into the match through Craig McGee, who pulled a goal back just after the hour, but there was no equaliser for the hosts and the Tanners end the day in third.

Binfield may have won in the FA Cup last weekend but that victory was sandwiched between two six-nil defeats, the latest of those arriving in the Velocity Cup at Badshot Lea in midweek. Still, they’d have been glad to be at home for the first time this season, and they went ahead against Chipstead five minutes before the break, Donate Whittaker opening the scoring. The Chips scored six on the opening weekend, and scored another to equalise soon after the restart, Arlie Desanges with the leveller- and that was that, the Chips in fourth.

Westfield have been full of goals in cup competitions but couldn’t manage another in the League as they hosted Chertsey Town. The Curfews didn’t get one, either- and end the day in fifth.

Ascot United have been unstoppable in the Cup, and hoped hope to pick up their first league points of the season as they welcomed Guernsey. The Yellas went ahead on twenty six minutes, Harry Grant with the opener, and it then became the Brendan Matthew show, the number ten scoring from the spot and then adding another to make it three-nil and take his tally so far to a rather incredible seven goals. Just before the end Oliver McCoy made it four, and United are eighth.

Corinthian-Casuals started life in the South Central Division with a hammering at Northwood, and took another of those on the road at Uxbridge in a midweek FA Cup replay, so would have been happy to be at home as Marlow came to call- but perhaps not happy for long, as it took Naheer-Omar Nawaf only thirteen minutes to put the visitors ahead. It soon got even worse for the side in pink and brown, as Dawid Rogalski-who scored a hat trick in midweek- added a fourth of the season on eighteen minutes to make it two-nil. Just after the restart Casuals got a goal back, Smea Cascoe-Rogers giving them hope- but that hope took a knock when Ayo Majekodunmi saw red ten minutes later. Marlow were merciless, and with nine minutes left Aaron McLeish-White added a third, before Rhys Harper made it four just before the final whistle.

Southall welcomed a Badshot Lea side who would have be buoyed by hitting six against Binfield in midweek- but the Baggies were quickly deflated by an All one-two, Azeez Alabi opening the scoring on nine minutes and Abdul Nurein adding a second soon afterwards. It was three-nil by the break, Luke Heneghan with that one, but the visitors gave themselves some hope when Take Caubo got one back with twenty three minutes left. It was forlorn hope, as it turned out, Southall ending the day in twelfth.

Sutton Common Rovers had a fine start to their league campaign, hitting Met Police for four on opening day, whilst visitors Uxbridge were playing their first match. Uxbridge had, however, been full of goals in the cup, having scored ten across three matches, and they added another after only six minutes, Bernard Mensah Jr with his third of the season so far. Rovers quickly replied, Aaron Jenkins scoring for the third match in a row, but went down to ten men just before the break, Conan Torpey seeing red. The visitors took advantage, Alex Witham restoring their lead on the hour, and that was that.

Hartley Wintney picked up their first win of the campaign with Cup victory last weekend, and they made it two victorious Saturdays in a row with a win over against Met Police. After forty one minutes without a goal we got three in the next four, Nathaneal Boakye giving the hosts the lead, Jayden Smith making it two from the spot and Kareem Akinbibi pulling one back for the boys in Blue. Smith then put himself front and centre, making it three-one just before the hour and completing his hat trick when making it four-one almost immediately. Seven minutes from time Alex Body got one back for the visitors, but the last word went to Boakye, who made it five.
