Will we have new Monday Night leaders?

By Ian Townsend

Carshalton Athletic welcome Hashtag United in Pitching In Isthmian Premier this evening. Here's our preview.

Carshalton Athletic have had a superb start to the new campaign, and victory over Hashtag United tonight at Colston Avenue will lift them above Chatham Town into top spot.

Lets start with some stats. The Robins have so far scored eighteen league goals- the joint best tally in the Division. They have conceded only six times- only two sides have a better defensive record. They have the very best home record- one hundred percent success after three league matches- and, to make the Tags task tonight even more difficult, they've also won their two home cup matches as well. Oh, and as well as winning every home game, they've kept clean sheets in four out of five of them! Only Lancing's Alex John Plumber has scored for an opposition side at the Robins nest this season- and his side lost four-one, so it didn't make a lot of difference.

The travelling Tags have played nine matches in all competitions, six of them at home. They got back to winning ways on Saturday after four league matches without a victory, an Alfie Cue double sealing a win against Wingate & Finchley, but only have one away win so far- their first away match this season saw them win at Concord Rangers, still by far their biggest victory of the campaign in any competition.

The two sides have met before, and it wasn't all that long ago. At the start of last season- a campaign which saw the Tags sweep to promotion- they travelled from Essex to Surrey for a pre-season Friendly and left with a three-nil triumph. We suspect they'll find it a little more difficult this evening.

A win for the hosts will leave them with a one point lead at the top. A draw will see them remain in second, a defeat could see them drop to third on goal difference. Victory for the Tags could see them end the night as high as sixth place.

Kick off is at 7.45 PM- and the Robins preview, with admission prices, is here.
