Wins for Villa and Uxbridge ensure their unbeaten runs continue

By Ian Townsend

Hanworth Villa won a five goal thriller, Uxbridge picked up a comfortable three points, whilst Sparks slow the Moles escape bid

We had three Pitching In Isthmian South Central matches scheduled- and both surprisingly and delightfully they all got the go ahead!

Uxbridge, who had scored ten goals and taken seven points from their previous three matches at Honeycroft, welcomed Metropolitan Police- and the red army were quickly given something to cheer, Mahlondo Martin putting the hosts ahead after just four minutes. That was that for the first half, but seven minutes into the second we had another early goal, and again it went to Uxbridge, this time Alex Witham making it two-nil. That’s where the scoring ended, Uxbridge in twelfth, the boys in blue ten points further back in sixteenth.

Binfield, eight points from safety at kick off but exhibiting mid table form of late, looked to give their great escape another boost as South Park Reigate came to call. The opening goal took more than an hour to arrive, but when it finally turned up it went to the hosts, and it had been coming. Rechan Espirit had hit the post a few minutes earlier, but on sixty two minutes Dontaye Whittaker managed to get the ball the right side of the upright, his twelfth of the season- and just like the eleventh coming against the Sparks, his last one scored in defeat on February 17th.

The Moles then made their own lives difficult, Jack Matton seeing red with nineteen minutes remaining, and just how difficult quickly became apparent as Craig McGee levelled for the Sparks eleven minutes from time. That turned out to be that, South Park in eighth, Binfield still seven points from safety- albeit with three games in hand.

Northwood welcomed Hanworth Villa, both sides looking to continue their recent good form. The Woods had one defeat from five and hit six goals last time out, whilst the Villains were four unbeaten and had won their last two, so we suspected this one would be close. The hosts were the first to find their stride, and went ahead on eighteen minutes, Kofi Anokye-Boadi with his eighth of the season- but the lead was soon cancelled out, Kyen Nicholas, deadly in front of goal this season, taking his tally to eighteen after getting on the end of a long kick from keeper Terry Buss.

Just after the hour the visitors went ahead, Kyron Richards doubling their advantage, and it took only six minutes before they added a third, Nicholas on target once more. Northwood were then given a boost as Villa saw George Wells dismissed, and they reduced the arrears with four minutes to go, Lucas Sinclair with the fifth goal of the evening. Sadly for the home fans, that was as good as it got, and the Villains took the points and are tenth. The Woods are fifteenth, fourteen points further back- but fourteen points above the drop zone.
