A big day in the South Central Play Off race

A big day for the South Central Play Off race

Westfield can secure their play off place tonight with victory over Northwood- so sixth place Raynes Park Vale will be cheering for an away win. The Woking Park side have hit top form at just the right moment, and come into this match looking for a sixth successive victory having lost only one of their last ten. Their opponents showed their mettle in coming from three goals down to take a point in Guernsey on Sunday, but are without a win in six matches, and indeed have only two wins from ten. They have nothing to play for but pride, however an away win would see them climb to thirteenth.

A home win will see Field secure in a play off spot, and even a draw is likely to have the same outcome, as it will send them three points clear of Vale with one match left- and they have a goal difference which is seven better than the South West Londoners. Westfield defeated the Woods as recently as February, but that was their first win against these opponents in five attempts.

Hanworth Villa have had a strong end to the season, and can secure seventh place with victory over relegated Corinthian-Casuals at Rectory Meadow this evening. The Villains have lost only one of their last nine, but sadly for the home fans this evening have left their play off push too late; whilst Casuals have won two of their last four, and seem to have finally found some form now the pressure is off.

Finally, Badshot Lea have had a hectic April, and play their seventh match of the month- sixth in a row at home- as Uxbridge come to call. They’ve lost their last four, and fatigue is likely to be a factor in that, but they have had some fine moments this season and will hope to go out with a bang in their final home match of the campaign. Their visitors are one place behind them in the table, and with their new 3G pitch have been able to avoid any weather-related fixture congestion. Victory for either side will see them into the top ten, the visitors trying to avoid a third consecutive defeat.
