A Hastings duo
Matty Astle and Sam King arrive at Pilot Field
Hastings United have added a couple of new arrivals.
Sam King makes a move from South Park Reigate- who are about to return to our South East Division. He returned to the Sparks in January, and played thirteen times last season, scoring once. He moved to Whitehall Lane from Merstham, where he played twenty one times last season, scoring half a dozen goals, which followed forty two games and eight goals during 24-25.
His previous spell at the Sparks was a big success, and culminated with a Surrey Senior Cup triumph at the end of 23-24. The midfielder scored fourteen goals in forty seven appearances during that campaign, six in thirty three the season before that, and four in eleven after signing on for the closing stages of the 21-22 season.
He was previously with Redhill, and if Sevenoaks Town fans have any recollections of him they will probably appear in the form of nightmares. He was part of the Redhill side who came from three goals down to knock Oaks out of the FA Cup in September 2021- indeed he scored two goals in seven minutes to bring the Lobsters level.
Full back and occasional winger Matty Astle comes in from newly-promoted Peacehaven and Telscombe. He made eighteen appearances as he helped his side to promotion at the end of last season, after starting the campaign at promotion rivals Haywards Heath Town, where he had played nineteen times.
He joined Heath during the 24-25 campaign, making a move from Lydd Town, and he was previously with Tunbridge Wells, and with Littlehampton Town, playing twenty three times- with two goals- during 23-24, as well as spending time with Eastbourne Town and Langney Wanderers.
