A late leveller sends Hendon to the summit

Ascot United took the form they showed in their four-nil midweek win over Binfield into their Trophy tie against Margate, and hoped for more of the same as Windsor & Eton came to visit in Pitching In Isthmian South Central. The Yellas were unbeaten in five competitive matches on their own patch, but that record didn’t last- despite an early lead from Harley Platel. Windsor levelled just after the half hour, Isiah Chase with the equaliser, and then went ahead half an hour later, Luke Phillips making it one-two. They finally killed off their hosts when Jack Mazzone added a third ten minutes from time- and climbed to eighth.

Ashford Town needed to board a plane on Bank Holiday Monday, heading to the land of Bergerac and Nigel Mansell as they took on Jersey Bulls. Bulls went into the match unbeaten in the League and still in the FA Cup, and that remained true as they took the points despite ending the match with only nine men! Toby Ritzema put the hosts in the driving set with goals on twenty and twenty nine minutes, but they then saw first James Carr and then James Sunley sent off, and had to play the remaining fifty minutes rather severely depleted. Despite that it took the Tangerines until ten minutes from time to get a goal back, Jack Arnold with it, and they couldn’t get another. Bulls are up to fifth. 

Bedfont Sports were at home to Cobham, and climbed to sixth by scoring the only goal of the match. It arrived twenty minutes from time, Tyrique Tekasala securing all three points.

Binfield were hoping for a first competitive win of the season- and indeed the first vaguely positive result- as Hartley Wintney came to call. The Moles had got the better of the Row twice last season in League and Cup, and every one of the three meetings between the sides had ended in home wins- but that won’t be repeated this season as the visitors scored the only goal and left with the points, Danilo Pereira sealing victory.

Bognor Regis Town were back on their own patch, Moneyfields their visitors. Last season the Moneys did a convincing double over the Rocks, but they won’t be doing that again, Bognor up to second with a two-one win. Luke Pardoe was the architect, scoring on thirty one and forty eight minutes, with Simba Mlambo getting a very late consolation for the Moneys. 

Egham Town travelled to Westfield in the Trophy on Saturday and left with victory, but Field had a speedy chance of revenge as the Sarnies arrived again in the League two days later- and it was a chance they took, and in style. Sam Folarin gave them a two-nil lead at the break with goals on thirty one and thirty nine minutes, and in the last twelve minutes of the match they added two more, George Hedley and Kameron English with goals three and four. Field climb to fourth. 

Harrow Borough returned to action on Monday, travelling to take on Hayes & Yeading. Borough were without a win after four matches in League and Cups, and that run extended to five despite them scoring three goals, as United got four, the last of those an added time winner. Lucas Miller put Borough ahead on thirteen minutes, only for Kalen Hinds to level twelve minutes later. Brendan Matthew put United ahead nine minutes before the break, but the lead lasted only twi minutes before Gareth Chendlik got an equaliser. 

Sixteen minutes from time Kai Hobbs looked to have won it for Hayes only for Jayde Crotty to make it three-three in the last minute of normal time, but visiting celebrations were dashed when Amari Fashanu scored the seventh of the afternoon. A first league win of the league season for United, who are twelfth. 

Hendon went into the weekend with five wins in a row in League and Cups and a one hundred percent record in all competitions, but they fell to narrow defeat in the Trophy on Saturday and hoped to bounce back as Southall made the trip to Silver Jubilee Park. Both sides were unbeaten in the League, and Hendon knew that victory would send them top. Last season’s meetings had brought thirteen goals, including a four-four draw- and we weren’t short of goals on this occasion, either, six more hitting the back of the net. 

The All went ahead on fourteen minutes, Dan Hector the scorer, and that remained the case until a real goalfest began twenty two minutes from time. Jordan Williams levelled for the hosts, only for Bill Montague to put the visitors ahead again four minutes later. Then Liam Ferdinand looked to have won it for Southall, only for Reece Nicholas-Davies to delight the home faithful with an equaliser three minutes into added time- and finally that was that. Hendon did indeed hit the summit, on goal difference, but will drop to second if Winchester City leave Littlehampton Town with a point or more THIS EVENING- by the way, we’ll be covering that one so will bring you a report later. 

Kingstonian were back on their own patch- well, Ashford Town’s patch- on Monday, Raynes Park Vale the visitors, fifteenth versus fourth- Kingstonian looking for a first League win. Vale had won three out of four of their last competitive meetings, but they were quickly behind in this one, Stan Flaherty with a first minute goal- although the equaliser quickly arrived, Mason Galloway taking only two more minutes to draw the sides level. Jamie Splatt restored home advantage on nineteen minutes, only for Galloway to again quickly equalise, and it remained two-two until nineteen minutes from time, when Rocky Williams restored the K’s lead. This time there was to be no equaliser from Galloway or indeed anyone else, and in added time Sean O’Brien made it four-two.
