A new duo at the Pilot Field

A new duo at the Pilot Field

Mark Swainston and Bruno Tavares await their Hastings United debuts

Hastings United might have seen their match on Saturday postponed, but they did get the chance to announce two new arrivals.

Bruno Tavares comes in from Ashford United. He joined the Nuts and Bolts in the summer and played four times.

Bruno, who can play on the wing or through the middle, played his early football for Rayners Lane, Enfield Borough, and made a couple of appearances for then Pitching In Isthmian South Central side Chalfont St Peter during the 2019-20 campaign. He then played for Enfield Borough once more, had a trial at Swindon Town, and then signed for National League South side Hungerford Town in the summer of 2021.

After a season- and a spell at Royston Town- he moved on to Hayes & Yeading United, at the start of the 22-23 season. A loan spell at Southall followed- seven appearances and a goal against Chertsey Town- before he stepped up to National League South once more, signing for Concord Rangers.

At the start of the 23-24 campaign he arrived at Sittingbourne,  and he went on to play for one of our former clubs, Hullbridge Sports.

Last season saw him play eleven times for Hythe Town- with three goals- and spend time at Woodford Town, where he scored four goals in five matches.

Mark Swainston makes a move from Lewes. The midfielder, who plays international football for The Philippines, is new to us after spells at Kaya FC–Iloilo  in the Philippines Football League, and Hong Kong sides Kitchee and Eastern in the Hong Kong Premier League. He joined the Rooks in the summer and has made four appearances, the last of them from the bench in defeat against Chichester City on September 9th.
