A North Friday- and Saturday
Lowestoft and Felixstowe kick off our North weekend a day early- whilst the Motormen will hope to go top on Saturday
Our Pitching In Isthmian North action begins on Friday evening, as Lowestoft Town play host to Felixstowe and Walton United. The Trawler Boys have only one win from seven competitive matches this season, whilst the Seasiders have had a surprisingly slow start too, with two wins from seven in League and Cup. They departed the FA Cup at the hands of Premier side Wingate & Finchley in a midweek replay, but did look back to close to their best when hammering Brightlingsea Regent on Bank Holiday Monday.
Saturday has most of our sides in FA Trophy action, but Redbridge won’t care, as they have a chance of hitting top spot as they travel to Grays Athletic. The Motormen are behind their tenants Hashtag United only on goal difference, and indeed the Tags are the only side to defeat them in the League, where they have won four of their first five. Athletic, in contrast, haven’t won in the League since the opening day, and are five without a win in all competitions. They conceded five in Leiston in a midweek Cup replay. Last season the Motormen did a League double, and also defeated their hosts on penalties in the Velocity Cup.
Mulbarton Wanderers, in ninth, are at home to the side two places and one point behind them, Bowers and Pitsea. Wanderers have played three competitive matches on their own patch, won them all, and scored ten goals without conceding any, so will pose a big challenge for the side from the Len Salmon; whilst Bowers are three unbeaten in the League but have won only one competitive match this season, and none on their travels.
We also have a match in the Velocity Cup, as Wroxham welcome Buckhurst Hill. Please note- this one has a noon kick off.
In the FA Trophy Canvey Island host Cambridge City, Fakenham Town are at home to Pitching In Southern League side Waltham Abbey, Hashtag United welcome Hertford Town, Newmarket Town face familiar opponents in Gorleston, Takeley welcome Aylesbury United, AFC Sudbury head to Pitching In Southern League side- and victors over Fakenham in the Cup in midweek- Ware, Walthamstow head to Welwyn Garden City and Concord Rangers hit the road to take on Winslow United.
