Kingstonian hit six, Sevenoaks get five, and although we only had two matches we got fourteen goals! Here’s our Wednesday round up, courtesy of Dyno-Rod
Kingstonian welcomed Bedfont Sports on our Pitching In Isthmian South Central Wednesday, but- on the pitch, anyway- the K’s weren’t all that welcoming.
The hosts went into the match unbeaten in the League, although Saturday had seen them lose narrowly in the Cup against top flight Leatherhead, so there was a need to get back on track- and they did just that, and in some style. Eddie Simon started the rout, his tenth goal of the season arriving on nine minutes, and although Tommy O’Neill quickly replied for Sports Simon went straight back up the other end and struck again, making it two-one within twelve minutes. Stan Flaherty made it three on twenty six minutes, and a goal from Rocky Williams in added time ensured that the lead looked unassailable at half time.
It was five-one within five minutes of the restart, Sean O’Brien adding the next one, and although Dan Williams brought it back to five-two and Mihai-Andrei Chiriac got a third for the visitors five minutes from the end the last word went to the hosts, Jordan Gallagher adding a sixth in added time. A late red card for Sports, George Frise departing only slightly early, rubbed salt in the wound.
The K’s are up to fifth, eight points behind the leaders with two games in hand, whilst Sports are thirteenth.
In Pitching In Isthmian South East we had Sevenoaks Town taking on Eastbourne Town. Oaks had experienced a rather mixed start to the campaign but remained unbeaten at home, whilst the visitors were still looking for a first win on the road- although they were buoyant after hitting Horley Town for seven on Saturday. As it happened, however, the Sussex side were about to experience what it was like to be on the receiving end of a thumping shortly after delivering one.
Oaks roared into a two goal lead within nine minutes, Courtney Barrington delivering both goals. They then started the second half exactly as they had started the first, with Barrington (pictured) claiming the match ball in the first minute and Nathan Jeche adding goal number four only two minutes later.
Twenty two minutes from time Jeche added another to bring us to five-nil, and a terrible night for the visitors ended with a red card, substitute JJ Walker departing four minutes from time.
Oaks climb to tenth- above their visitors, who slip to fourteenth.
