Bedfont Terry to be a marathon man
Bedfont Sports Secretary Terry Reader to run the London Marathon for Children's Hospice
Bedfont Sports Club Secretary Terry Reader has been pounding pavements for some time in preparation for Sunday's London Marathon- and his hard work is all in a good cause.
Terry is running to raise funds for Shooting Stars Children's Hospices. They care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions across south-west London, north-west London and Surrey, providing support from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement. Their services cost twelve million pounds a year to run, so support from people like Terry is absolutely critical to their existence.
Terry explains:
'So I've finally got the opportunity to achieve one of my life long goals and run the London Marathon!! In hindsight, I should have maybe done this when I was much younger and I'm not sure its my brightest idea knowing I'll be 48 by race day !! I'm not sure I also thought about the training in the winter when my good friend Sally Wells, from Shooting Stars talked me into it, but with my background at Bedfont Eagles I'm so proud to be able to support and amazing charity supporting children.
So please get behind an amazing charity, Shooting Star Children's Hospices cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families across Surrey and London.'
So far Terry has raised more than seven thousand pounds, and you can add to that- and perhaps leave a supportive message- by heading HERE. When we say a supportive message, we suggest perhaps something less blunt than that left by ‘Holly Dolly,’ who says “Good luck Terry- Hopefully you don’t die and we see you next week!”
The very best of luck, Terry. You may end up with a few aches, pains, pulls and strains, but you're doing a fabulous thing and we're proud of you!
