Buckhurst Hill and Little Oakley finally make their Step Four bows on our North Tuesday

Newcomers Buckhurst Hill finally get into action this evening, Grays Athletic visiting for an Essex derby. Hill sit in sixteenth, on- of course- zero points, with six sides below them despite their lack of action; whilst their visitors are three points better off. The hosts have actually played twice this season, with an FA Cup win and an FA Trophy defeat, whilst Grays are coming into match number five, having delivered two FA Cup wins in addition to their League fixtures. 

Little Oakley have also had to sit out the League campaign so far, so their fans will also get to see their heroes in Step Four action for the first time. Brightlingsea Regent are their visitors, Regent having played twice in the League and drawn them both. Two Cup games for Little Oakley have brought a victory and a defeat.

Lowestoft Town are back on their own patch, the Trawler Boys welcoming an impressive Mulbarton Wanderers. Town picked up their first win of the season a week ago, coming from behind to take three points from Fakenham Town; whilst Wanderers have so far defeated Lakenheath, Felixstowe and Walton United, AFC Sudbury and Little Oakley in League, Cup and Trophy, scoring ten goals and keeping a clean sheet in each match. 

Newmarket Town’s opening two League matches have both ended in defeat, so the Jockeys will hope to get points on the board as they entertain Takeley. Away from League action they have been impressive- and victorious- in two FA Cup matches, walloping St Neots Town on Saturday, so they won’t be short on confidence; whilst their visitors started with League and Cup victories but have since suffered League and Cup defeats, the latest of those to Waltham Abbey at the weekend.

Last season’s meetings between the sides ended with Takeley taking four points, yet with only one goal between them overall. This one may well be close, too.

Bowers and Pitsea haven’t had the start they might have expected, and will hope to put that right as they head to Tilbury. An opening day Cup defeat has been followed by two League defeats for our visitors, who are yet to pick up a point as a consequence; whilst the hosting Dockers, who departed the FA Cup at the weekend, have only the one- courtesy of a draw in Brightlingsea.

Walthamstow have three points more than visitors Cambridge City, but then the East Londoners have played three times the matches, with three different outcomes. Stow picked up their only win so far last Tuesday night when they hosted Grays Athletic, and will hope to continue to make their ground a fortress; whilst City might be waiting for their first points but they have already defeated two North Division rivals in the Cup. 

The last four meetings between the sides have ended in home wins.
