Five stars for Leafe and K’s

Five stars for Leafe and K’s

AFC Whyteleafe played host to Whitehawk in a battle of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier strugglers. We expected a tense, nervous encounter- but what we got was the free-flowing hosts putting their visitors to the sword.

Leafe went ahead after only five minutes, Toby Aromolaran scoring his first goal for the club, and twenty minutes later Palace Francis made it two, after good work from Aaron Goode. Three minutes into the second half Francis was the provider and Aromolaran the grateful recipient, making it three, and Aromolaran claimed the match ball and his side’s fourth goal with seventeen minutes remaining, with Francis again the provider.

Still the hosts weren’t finished, and in added time Francis added number five, this time Daniel Bennett taking on the creative role.

Whyteleafe climb to sixteenth, three points clear of the drop zone; whilst things aren’t so pretty for their second bottom visitors. The Hawks are second from bottom, have lost all seven of their matches on the road so far, are four points from safety- and have a goal difference of minus twenty after only twelve matches.

Saturday sees Leafe host promotion-chasing Dartford, whilst Whitehawk are on the road again, travelling to Cheshunt.

In Pitching In Isthmian South Central Kingstonian, who had gone four matches without a win, were hosting Hartley Wintney, the visitors looking to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat. Sadly for the travelling faithful the red streak on the form guide got even larger, as the K’s won- and in some style.

After twenty four minutes without a goal we then got three within five minutes, all of them going to the hosts. Stan Flaherty made the breakthrough with a shot from distance, and three minutes later Rocky Williams repeated the feat to make it two. Eddie Simon quickly added a third, although the visitors got one back just before the break, Kevin Ngombi hammering home.

Eleven minutes into the second half the visitors went down to ten men, Joe Dyett picking up a second yellow card, but the ten men pulled it back to three-two with sixteen minutes remaining, Riley Hadley the scorer. Sadly for the travelling faithful that goal simply provoked the hosts, and within four minutes Dennis Kelmendi had made it four-two. Right at the end Simon struck again, his sixteenth goal in fifteen games, and that was that, five-two the final score.

The K’s are up to eleventh, The Row remain fifteenth- and on Saturday Kingstonian travel to Hayes and Yeading United whilst Hartley host Windsor and Eton.
