Golds give Rocks a New Year hangover

We had only one New Years Day match- and it saw Littlehampton Town hammer Bognor at Nyewood Lane
Bognor Regis Town hosted our only game of New Years Day, giving a second outing to their new pitch- and we suspect that most of the one thousand, two hundred and eighty two who turned out to watch were hoping for a party. They would have been sadly disappointed, as visitors Littlehampton Town not only played the role of party poopers, they did so in style!
Bognor came into the match in inconsistent form, whilst their visitors had only one win from six. We put the Rocks travails down to the fact that they'd only returned home for the first time this season on December 27th, but being back at Nyewood Lane certainly didn't help on this occasion.
Littlehampton were ahead as early as the eleven minutes, former Bognor boy Lucas Pattenden with the opener- and only three minutes later player-boss George Gaskin made it two. On twenty minutes it was three-nil, Josh Short causing extreme consternation around the ground- apart from amongst the travelling faithful, who of course were delighted, but the hosts got one back from the spot eleven minutes later, Lee Seok-Jae holding his nerve.
If that had given the hosts hope, most of it departed just before half time when Marshall Ball made it four-one from the spot, and try as they might the second half saw no Bognor comeback; indeed, it saw them end the match with ten men, substitute Brandon Chebby dismissed five minutes from time.
That was that, four-one the final score, and the Golds completing a double and taking local bragging rights.
