Anthony Grant makes a temporary Whyteleafe move

AFC Whyteleafe have borrowed Anthony Grant from Ramsgate- and he may get to make his debut at Hassocks on Saturday.

The Rams explained:

‘Granty arrived at Southwood in the summer but has been sidelined with a calf injury. With that now healed, the move provides him with the chance to build up match fitness and get valuable minutes on the pitch. We wish him well during his spell and look forward to seeing him back in Rams colours soon.’

Midfielder Anthony is vastly experienced. A former Chelsea youth who also featured in the first team squad, he had a number of loan spells as a Blue, particularly at Wycombe Wanderers and Southend United, and after leaving Stamford Bridge signed permanently at the Essex seaside and remained a Shrimper for four years, playing nearly two hundred times.

A season with Stevenage was followed by two years with each of Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale, and he moved on from the Potteries to sign for Peterborough United, before a managerial change led to his departure. He was then a great success at Shrewsbury and Swindon Town, before a little time with Scunthorpe United and Crawley Town.

He joined Welling United part way through the 23-24 season and has been there ever since.

At international level, he played for England's youth sides and Jamaica as a full international.
