Hastings deliver a derby triumph

Hastings pick up their first victory of the campaign- whilst Eastbourne’s wait goes on

Hastings United welcomed local rivals Eastbourne Town to Pilot Field last night, and a goal in each half delivered a home triumph. United, who drew with Erith Town on opening day, welcomed eight hundred and sixty nine supporters- and most of them will have been delighted when Gil Carvalho pounced after good work from Fin Chapman, putting the hosts ahead just before the break.

The match remained in the balance, and it took until deep in added time for it to be settled; indeed, seven added minutes had been played before Hastings got their second. It is a goal which we’ve seen credited to both Carvalho and James Hull, so we’ll have to leave the club to sort that out, but the three points remained at home. Town sit bottom of the table and have lost three matches in a row in League and Cup- they won’t be in action again until they host Beckenham Town on 23rd August.
